Oregon Spinal Cord Injury Connection

Become an Advocate!

This year, the United Spinal Association is welcoming all 52 of their chapters to join their coast-to-coast Grassroots Advocacy Network to improve the political impact of the overall SCI/D community.  This advocacy network not only brings together a legion of experienced advocates and motivated newbies from the spinal cord injury community, but seeks to support chapters, like ours, to effectively participate in and influence local and state policy decisions that impact our quality of life.

James Lee and Dave Pierson have stepped up as Oregon’s co-chapter advocacy representatives. We are looking forward to speaking with any members interested in joining in on the advocacy push. As it happens, OSCI member, Brook McCall, serves as the manager for this national program, and thus, we have high expectations for Oregon to continue to be a standout group of voices for change.

Dave, James, West, and Brook have initially begun reaching out to other local SCI relevant organizations to gauge community need and leverage support for our work in the future.  In the new year, we are looking forward to expanding our groups advocacy engagement and will be inviting all of you to participate in campaigns and events that will allow you to speak up for yourself while speaking up for everyone affected by spinal cord injury.  Feel free to reach out if you have advocacy ideas or opportunities you’d like to share.
